The biggest supporter of Dogecoin, Elon Musk, once again finds himself in the centre of controversy. This entrepreneur made statements at the DealBook Summit hosted by The New York Times, sparking discussions. Jesse Powell, co-founder and former CEO of the crypto exchange Kraken, shared his views in an interview, particularly discussing Musk's approach to managing social media platforms.
Musk acquired X (formerly Twitter) for billions of dollars, aiming to 'save free speech.'
Musk stated that this so-called control violates the U.S. Constitution and the First Amendment.
"The degree to which all Twitter was basically a sock puppet of the government was ridiculous. It seems to be that there is a severe violation of the First Amendment, in terms of how much control the government had over all Twitter, and it no longer is."
Powell Supports Musk
Kraken's co-founder, Jesse Powell, expressed support for Musk, citing the current CEO of the social media platform's consistent policy changes in support of 'protecting free speech.'
Powell said via his X account,
"Twitter makes an extremely strong case against 'billionaires shouldn’t exist'. In fact, it proves that we need to maintain at least one person worth $44 billion."
Community’s Support
Some members of the crypto community agree with Powell's views and his defence of Musk. Some acknowledge Musk's role in 'protecting freedom,' while others highlight the need to prevent the concentration of power by individuals and entities.
Musk Goes to War with Disney
In the same interview, Musk also discussed the advertising issues the platform is facing. Some renowned companies like Apple, IBM, and Disney have decided to halt their marketing activities on X. Since their ads are associated with anti-Semitic posts.
Elon Musk directly made comments towards Disney CEO Bob Iger, like "Go Fxxk Yourself!" Afterwards, Disney+'s service records showed an increase in the number of people leaving the service, prompting celebration among Musk's followers.
Musk said Thursday on X,
"Stop giving money to people that hate you. Cancel Disney+ and pass it on."
Many commenters mentioned discontinuing their Disney+ subscriptions, with some sharing their email cancellation confirmations.
