David Schwartz, Ripple's Chief Technology Officer, recently attended the Consensus2024 crypto event, where he made a statement aimed at dispelling persistent rumors linking him to Satoshi Nakamoto, the elusive creator of Bitcoin.
During the event, Schwartz shared two photos on his social media, one featuring himself alongside BitBoy, a prominent crypto blogger, and another showing him standing next to an individual adorned in a mask reminiscent of Satoshi Nakamoto's iconic anonymity. In the caption accompanying the latter photo, Schwartz emphasized that the image provided "absolute proof" that he is not Satoshi Nakamoto.
On May 29, Schwartz took to his X account to announce that he and Phil Kwok, co-founder of the EasyA app, would unveil Ripple's vision and roadmap for institutional DeFi on the XRP Ledger during the conference. Additionally, Schwartz was slated to deliver a public talk covering topics such as multichain interoperability, EVM programmability, and RWA tokenization, as per a prior tweet from Ripple Labs.
Addressing speculation within the XRP community, Schwartz clarified that he has never sold any XRP to purchase other cryptocurrencies. However, he admitted to divesting Bitcoin holdings to acquire more XRP and ETH.
Despite his expertise in cryptography and his role in creating the XRP Ledger, Schwartz has repeatedly refuted claims of being Satoshi Nakamoto. Notably, he underscored his lack of familiarity with Qt, a prevalent software development tool used in Bitcoin's codebase, as a key reason for debunking such allegations. In his latest rebuttal in early May, Schwartz reiterated that while the notion of him being Bitcoin's founder is plausible, it remains untrue due to his unfamiliarity with Qt. Additionally, Schwartz noted that while Nik Bougalis, Ripple's former director of engineering, possesses knowledge of Qt, claims linking him to Nakamoto are similarly baseless.
