This article introduces five on-chain games worthy of attention in January 2024. The author of the article, WASD, not only shared basic information about the game, but also mentioned their latest developments and upcoming events. These games include Sky Strife, Dark Forest Arena, Tarochi, Force Prime Heroes and Aether Sands, demonstrating the vibrancy and diversity of the on-chain gaming space.
January will be an important month for on-chain gaming, with a plethora of new products, updates, events, and game tests expected to be launched over the next 30 days.
In this article, I will give you a preview of what's to come by introducing five of my most anticipated games, so let's get started!
Sky Strife
Introduction
Sky Strife is a turn-based real-time strategy (RTS) game built in MUD by Lattice.
In Sky Strife, you can participate in 2 to 4-player PVP matches, where the goal is to destroy other players' bases while protecting your own from attack.
Upcoming Project Progress
Sky Strife is about to begin Its next ongoing playtest (Season 0.1), which will run on the Redstone Holesky testnet from January 8th to 30th.
Although details of the structure of this season have not yet been officially released, it is likely that the Lattice team will create free tournaments multiple times a day during this period, as before.
However, we are certain that players who participate in the above competitions will be able to obtain Orbs
Orbs are an ERC-20 token issued as tournament rewards and can be used to create games between freerolls.
In addition, users will be able to mint new Season Pass NFTs, giving their holders access to exclusive matches, maps, and the ability to launch whitelisted games.
I had so much fun playing Sky Strife Season 0 that I can’t wait to play Season 0.1.
Dark Forest Arena
Introduction
< p style="text-align: left;">Dark Forest Arena is a Dark Forest community event hosted by dfDAO on the Gnosis chain.
Dark Forest is an MMO game in which players compete for domination of the galaxy covered by zk-SNARK by conquering planets, scoring points, and improving in-game rankings.
Project Progress
The latest competition launched by Dark Forest is a "speed round" where the player's goal is to capture the target planet in the shortest possible time.
The event starts on December 31st and will run for two weeks, with prizes awarded to players with the highest scores (i.e. fastest capture times).
I think this is a great way to reignite interest in Dark Forest and educate players like me who weren't around during its heyday Showcase this game.
I've yet to give it a serious try and play, and while I'm almost certainly not going to win, I'm still eager to join the competition (or should I say, arena).
Tarochi
Introduction
Tarochi is an on-chain RPG game developed by Paima Studios using the Paima engine on XAI.
The game has similarities to Pokémon in that players can explore, complete quests, battle, and capture monsters.
Project Progress
Paima is planned to be held in January Testing of the latest version of the game (Season 1).
This event will be open to members of their Discord server, so you should join Discord if you haven't already. Season 1 will introduce several new features, including PVP battles (battles are currently PVE) and a tradable gold currency.
In addition, players will be able to trade their game state.
Overall, I'm really excited about Season 1 and want to try out the new features.
I think the introduction of PVP will make the battle more engaging, and I am also curious about what the player status trading market is like.
Force Prime Heroes
Introduction
< p style="text-align: left;">Force Prime Heroes is a fantasy game built by Force Prime using Dojo and Unity.
Heroes was created during the recent Dojo Holiday Game Jam hackathon and is set in a land called Arcanus, where players are tasked with defeating A creature called "The Bone Dragon".
To do this, they will collect treasure chests and engage in PVE battles by deploying five different types of creatures, called units.
Project Progress
Although currently available on Windows Download the client to play, but Force Prime Heroes plans to release a web version in the near future.
The team will also host a tournament later this month where players can compete to win prizes and influence.
I'm not a Windows user, so I haven't had a chance to try out Heroes yet.
Regardless, I'm excited about the upcoming browser game and tournament, and looking forward to getting my hands on the game for the first time.
Aether Sands
Introduction
Aether Sands is an open world game developed by k0 Labs using MUD.
Aether Sands is set in a post-apocalyptic world where you need to rebuild civilization by planting and defending a tree called a temple.
You will do this by extracting and managing resources like water and using machines called Harvesters.
Project Progress
Aether Sands was held last month The first public test was launched and the second test will begin in mid-January.
Although the first public test lasted about 24 hours, we don’t know many details about the test.
But based on what I know about the game, I'm looking forward to playing Aether Sands.
It reminds me of Primodium, and the open world type of game is one of my favorite types of off-chain games.
New year, a good start
As you can see, for January is going to be an exciting and dynamic month for us on-chain gamers.
New versions of Sky Strife, Tarochi, Force Prime Heroes and Aether Sands are coming soon, and the Dark Forest arena is also online and playable!
There will certainly be more announcements of other products in the coming weeks. This burgeoning level is not only interesting for all of us, but is a super bullish sign for the future of this space.
In short, this will be a very important year for on-chain games.
