In the article "From DeSci to AI Agent: Interpretation of Potential Tracks" on December 6,
I listed several conditions that I think are necessary to become a potential track in this round of market:
- It must have a strong ecological demonstration effect, so that after developing to a certain stage, other ecosystems can't wait to join the battle.
- It must have a benchmark project, so that every project party trying to build this ecosystem will say that we want to become the XXX coin of the XXX ecosystem.
- Of course, it must have a strong wealth effect, and this wealth effect cannot be just one or two isolated cases, but there must be a group of projects that allow participants to earn considerable returns and form a group effect. In addition, this wealth effect must be able to last for a period of time. It cannot be said that if you buy yesterday, make money today, and return to zero tomorrow.
- Finally, it is likely to be a new track. Because the new track has not been tried before, a slightly new gameplay can trigger unlimited imagination.
Now it seems that the AI agent track is increasingly meeting the above conditions.
Just last Friday, Virtuals (https://app.virtuals.io/), the largest AI agent financing platform in the Base ecosystem, had a circulating market value/full circulating market value of its token VIRTUAL exceeding $2 billion.
This market value was achieved without listing on Xan, OK, or even the platform behind it, Coinbase.
In this case, this market value has already topped the list among AI agent tokens, and is far ahead of other AI agent tokens (including meme coins initiated by AI agents).
Measured by market value, it is already a benchmark project in the AI agent track.
At the same time, starting with the Virtuals platform, a series of AI agent tokens funded or initiated by the Virtuals project party have also "risen to the sky" during this period, and it is obvious that a clustering effect has been formed.
Under this effect, similar projects have emerged in other second-layer extensions of Ethereum, such as zkSync and Arbitrum. The project owners have clearly stated on their Twitter that they want to develop their own AI agent platforms.
The AI agent track has obviously spread rapidly from Solana and Base at the beginning to other ecosystems.
During this period, when I was checking information about AI agents on Twitter, I saw some very inspiring information several times. At first glance, I would subconsciously check which KOL sent the information. As a result, I saw that they all came from AI agent AIXBT.
At least for AIXBT, an AI agent issued by the Virtuals platform, I think it is no longer a meme coin, but has actually generated actual value and use.
More importantly, this value is sustainable and developing, and is not simply driven by intermittent emotions like meme coins.
I believe that cases like AIXBT are not isolated cases.
In the article on December 2, I shared some of the views expressed by the co-founder of the Virtuals platform in an interview. In that interview, he also mentioned that there are hundreds of AI agents waiting to be launched on the platform.
This number should be even higher now.
Even if many of these projects are bubbles in the end, as long as there are a few more AI agents like AIXBT that really generate actual value and use, the value and narrative space they bring cannot be underestimated.
There is an article on Shenchao that gives a relatively detailed introduction to the current AI agent ecosystem. The link to the article is attached at the end of the article.
This article lists a lot of projects, but what I value more is its division of each sub-sector in this ecosystem. For investors who pay attention to this ecosystem, paying attention to the projects mentioned in it is one aspect, but more importantly, it is to find a sub-sector that suits their taste and expertise. Look for opportunities in this sub-sector.
For investors, when we find a new track with potential, the highest return is of course to go straight to the sub-sector that we are best at and understand, and look for small-cap, new projects in it. But this is high-risk and has a high threshold.
If you are not sure which specific project is reliable, then the simpler approach is to find a reliable platform. Because the judgment criteria of the platform are much simpler and easier to grasp. Compared with specific projects, the income of platform coins is small, but the risk is also smaller.
If there are a few more projects that can provide real services and value in the AI agent track, I think it is really possible to become the main driver of the next market, and there will be projects with a market value of more than 10 billion US dollars.
As for the AI agent track, I think it is still early.
