Jamal Simmon, the former communication director for Kamala Harris, is asking President Joe Biden to step down as the president to give way to Kamala Harris.
In an interview with CNN, Simmons said:
"Biden could resign from the presidency in the next 30 days and make Kamala Harris the President of the United States."

He added that Joe Biden had been a phenomenal president, but there is currently one last promise left which he can fulfill-be a transitional figure.
But there is currently no evidence that President Joe Biden has any plans to leave the office just yet.
Overwriting Harris's loss during the Presidential Election
Simmon's rationality is easy: If Harris is the President when Donald Trump takes over, then the 2024 Presidential Election would be remembered as a smooth transitioning of power from "President" Kamala Harris to President Trump instead of a crushing defeat for Kamala Harris that is currently being portrayed by the media.
But it seems like the CNN hosts weren't very impressed by Simmon's idea. Host Dana Bash said that the idea had jumped from an internet meme to a Sunday morning show.
Could this really be a turnover for the Democratic party
Simmons on Sunday went on to say that "This is the moment... To change the entire perspective of how the Democrats operate."
There were also other political commentators who said that if Joe Biden gives way to Kamala Harris, the the Democrats would essentially make a mark in the history by electing the first US female President, something that the people failed to fulfil during the presidential election this year.
This suggestion comes amid internal criticism of Biden from Democratic figures, who opine his leadership might have contributed to Harris's loss. Nancy Pelosi openly criticised Biden's decision to remain on the democratic ticket despite low approval ratings, hindered Harris's campaign.
But not everyone on the panel was convinced. Jennings, a former special assistant to former President George W. Bush jokingly said:
"Jamal, thought you were writing the new season of House of Cards", drawing reference to the popular TV series about U.S politics.
It seems like this unprecedented move will most uncertainly not come to pass.
Jamal ended the interview by saying that this is something within the control of President Joe Biden, and this noble move would allow the Democrats to turn their recent loss to a somewhat silver lining.
"It would disrupt all Donald Trump's paraphernalia," Simmons said, referring to popular Trump merchandise branded with "47", a nod to him being the 47th president.
If Biden were to step down early, it would scramble that.
