OpenAI's outage struck shortly after Meta's outage
In an update, OpenAI acknowledged the disruption, confirming that API and ChatGPT traffic had seen partial recovery, though Sora remained affected. The company assured users that efforts to fully restore services were ongoing.
The disruption occurred after Meta platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook experienced a major outage affecting users globally.

Meta’s downtime lasted over three hours, during which Instagram alone recorded nearly 70,000 issue reports on Downdetector by mid-Wednesday. In a subsequent update, Meta stated it was “99% of the way there” in resolving the problem.
