A man was arrested at a rally for former President Donald Trump in Coachella, California, for carrying an unlicensed shotgun and a loaded handgun.
The Riverside County Sheriff's Office confirmed the arrest on 13 October. The suspect, identified as 49-year-old Vem Miller from Las Vegas, was taken into custody near a checkpoint while driving a black SUV.
He has since been released on bail and is scheduled to appear in court on 2 January.

The US Secret Service is aware of the arrest and reported that both Trump and the attendees were not in any danger during the incident. Investigations are ongoing, though no federal arrests have been made.

This incident follows two earlier assassination attempts against Trump, one in Pennsylvania and another at a golf course in Florida. Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco, a Trump supporter, remarked on the unpredictability of such threats, implying that further preventative measures may have been warranted.
Bianco stated that Miller's vehicle contained multiple passports and various forms of identification under different names. He added that any additional charges would be determined by federal authorities.
