Kidnapping is a growing problem in the Philippines. In the past, many victims involved Chinese people, and many of them were Chinese people robbing each other. Recently, a dramatic incident occurred in the Philippines, where two Chinese women were rescued by kidnappers in Pampanga Province. The operation was carried out by the Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG), and at least two Chinese suspects were arrested. Unfortunately, one policeman was killed and another was injured during the rescue.
The two victims were kidnapped in Makati City last Friday, and the kidnappers demanded a ransom of 50 million yuan (about 7 million US dollars). The victims' families sought help from the Chinese authorities, who reported the incident to the Philippine authorities with the assistance of the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines.
On Saturday, the Philippine police located the victims and the kidnappers. That afternoon, they launched a rescue operation in an upscale residential area. During the operation, the Chinese kidnappers opened fire on the police, killing one policeman and injuring another.
Police seized two pistols
Police seized two pistols from the suspect and found drugs, knives and other items at the scene. The anti-kidnapping team is investigating whether there are other accomplices involved and whether the suspect is related to other kidnapping and extortion activities.
