Odaily Planet Daily News Enrico Galliera, chief marketing and commercial officer of Ferrari, said that the company has begun accepting cryptocurrency payments for its luxury sports cars in the United States and will expand the program to Europe at the request of its high-net-worth customers. Galliera said cryptocurrencies can reduce carbon footprints by introducing new software and making greater use of renewable resources.
Ferrari said the decision was made in response to market and dealer demand, as many customers have invested in cryptocurrencies.
Galliera added: “Some are young investors who have built their wealth through cryptocurrencies; others are more traditional investors looking to diversify their portfolios.”
Galliera did not disclose how many cars Ferrari expected to sell via cryptocurrency. The company's order portfolio is strong and full through 2025, but the company wants to test this expanding segment, he said. (Reuters)
