In the currency circle, learning can not only acquire new knowledge, but also get corresponding rewards. Earlier, Arbitrum, the second-layer (L2) expansion solution of Ethereum, launched the Odyssey event in June. As long as you complete the specified tasks, you can receive free NFT as a reward. Users in the currency circle can not only collect NFTs with extraordinary commemorative value, but also learn and use blockchain solutions and decentralized protocols. Maybe they will have the opportunity to get airdrops in the future! For the author, obtaining rewards through learning is very attractive.
In late September, Galxe (formerly known as Project Galaxy) partnered with another L2 solution, Optimism (OP), to launch a new "earn as you learn" campaign aimed at giving Web3 users a deeper understanding of OP's ecosystem. In addition to allowing users who are not familiar with L2 solutions to explore the ecosystem and dApps without risk, this event can also receive free NFT for collection and commemoration. There are a total of 18 tasks in this event, which means that there are 18 NFTs waiting for us to collect, and the author's ultimate guide will lead you to collect them all!
Before we start, we first need to prepare the following four points:
1. MetaMask
2. Add the OP network in MetaMask. The easiest way to add is via chainlist.org
3. There is at least 0.02 ETH in the OP network as gas fee
4. Any currency equivalent to USD 150 (it can be ETH, USDC, DAI, etc.), USDC is recommended

Most tasks generally only cost gas, and some slippage may be lost in some cases, but the total will not exceed $1. It should be noted that the cost of some tasks may be much higher than $1, and you can complete the task at your discretion.
P/S: The author completed the following series of OP tasks before the release of XEN Crypto. In the past few days, I discovered that the OP's gas cost also depends on the face of the big brother of Ethereum. Compared with the previous average gas fee of US$0.0333 per transaction, it is now about US$0.15 per transaction. It is not too late for everyone to wait for the XEN craze to subside.
1. Uniswap
Task: Convert $20 worth of tokens twice.
Difficulty: ☆☆☆☆
Time: Immediately
Comments: Uniswap will be used more than twice when solving other tasks, so there is no need to rush to complete it.
Notes: None.
2. Synapse
Task: Deposit $20 worth of ETH or stablecoins in the Liquidity Pool (LP).
Difficulty: ☆☆☆☆
Time: Immediately
Comments: The author chose the nUSD-USDC trading pair.
Note: Synapse platform is required to convert nUSD. After completing the task, use Synapse again to exchange nUSD back to USDC.
3. Rubicon
Task: To convert $20 worth of tokens, pick any LP and deposit $20. Follow the Twitter page and join the Discord.
Difficulty: ☆☆☆☆
Time: Immediately
Comments: The slippage of Rubicon is very high, it is recommended to switch only once to complete the task. Subsequent token swaps can be performed using Uniswap.
The $21 USDC can be exchanged for DAI, and the DAI can be used to add LP. It can be withdrawn immediately after adding LP.
Note: Rubicon has high slippage for token swaps, Uniswap is available after one swap.
4. Perpetual Protocol
Task: trade position of at least $100.
Difficulty: ☆☆☆☆
Time: Immediately
Comments: First deposit 105 USDC, then click "BTC" on the left.
Enter 105 in the US dollar column, and you can choose long or short at will. Please close the position immediately after opening, speculation is not the focus of our event. USDC can be withdrawn after closing the position.
Note: Do not leverage, just keep 10% of your purchasing power.
5. Granary
Task: Lend an asset worth $50 and borrow $20. Follow the Twitter page, join the Discord and request a role.
Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆
Time: Immediately
Comments: Deposit USDC of USD 55 first.
Visit the "Loan" page after recharging, and choose the currency with the lowest interest rate to borrow USD 21. USDT/USDC/DAI is recommended.
Loans can be repaid and deposits withdrawn immediately after the transaction is completed. After completing the main quest, join Discord and click to claim the "Galxe quest" role.
Note: Granary only recognizes USDT/USDC/DAI/BTC transactions, WBTC Coin is not sure. In any case, using one of USDT/USDC/DAI is foolproof.
6. Velodrome
Task: Add $20 as LP to a stable pool (such as USDC-DAI) and pledge it. Follow the Twitter page.
Difficulty: ★★★☆☆
Time: Immediately
Comments: Swap USDC and DAI worth $21 through Uniswap, and click "Pools" to add LP. After adding an LP, Velodrome will prompt whether a pledge is required. The funds can be withdrawn immediately after the pledge is successful.
Note: Click the icon to select the currency. The specific amount of the pledged token "sAMM - USDC/DAI" can be intercepted in the OP's block browser. You can access the "Token" column of the resource manager through MetaMask. Click "sAMM - USDC/DAI" to enter the token page, copy the token balance and paste it under the withdrawal page of Velodrome.
7. Stargate
Task: Cross-chain at least $100 USDC from Optimism to any network.
Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆
Time: 30 minutes to 1 hour reflected on Galxe
Comments: Remember to use USDC for cross-chain. You can choose to cross-chain to Arbitrum to save gas.
Note: If you want to cross-chain USDC from Arbitrum back to Optimism, you need ETH on the Arbitrum chain. If there is no ETH on Arbitrum, or if it is too troublesome to send ETH to Arbitrum, you can choose to cross-chain to other networks. What needs to be ensured is that you own the native token of the selected public chain, such as BNB to BSC, MATIC to Polygon, etc.
8. Polynomial
Task: Open any position in the vault of the platform. Follow the Twitter page.
Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆
Time: 4 hours (additional 4 hours to withdraw funds)
Comments: Swap $50 worth of sUSD via Uniswap.
Visit the Polynomial platform, select a "bearish" vault in USD.
Deposit all sUSD and wait 4 hours for the deposit to complete. After 4 hours, the funds can be withdrawn after claiming the NFT on Galxe. Withdrawals also need to wait for 4 hours. After withdrawal, you can exchange sUSD back to USDC through Uniswap, or keep it to solve the 10th and 12th tasks.
Note: The Uniswap offer for converting sUSD is the best. Remember to apply for NFT on Galxe before withdrawing cash.
9. Pika
Task: Open a margin trade worth at least 30 USDC and add at least 30 USD LP in the USDC vault.
Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆
Time: Immediately (3 days for withdrawal)
Comments: Similar to the fourth task, remember to open an order with the lowest leverage, long or short, such as: 31 US dollars and 1.2 times leverage.
Close the position immediately after opening the position, and enter the "Vault" page to pledge $31.
Note: NFT can be claimed on Galxe immediately after completing the task, but the funds will still be locked for 3 days. You can choose to finish this quest after completing other quests. Remember to tag the vault page to remind yourself to unstake and claim your funds back after 3 days.
10. Kwenta
Task: Trade a futures position worth at least $100. Follow the Twitter page and join the Discord.
Difficulty: ☆☆☆☆
Time: 2 days
Comments: Convert $105 of USDC to sUSD through Uniswap, and deposit all in Kwenta.
Similar to task 4, select BTC and open a long or short position with 1x leverage. Close the position and withdraw funds immediately after opening the position. You can save sUSD to solve the 12th task.
Note: According to Kwenta's announcement, positions can be closed immediately after opening, but it takes 48 hours for Galxe to update the records. Remember to claim the NFT after 48 hours.
11. Pool together
Task: Deposit $20 and save it for 3 days.
Difficulty: ☆☆☆☆
Time: 3 days
Review: Deposit $21 and wait 3 days. The deposit is withdrawn only after the NFT is successfully claimed on Galxe.
Note: Since the funds will be locked, you can complete other tasks first.
12. Clipper
Task: deposit $20 into the OP liquidity pool, wait 10 days. Convert $20 worth of tokens in the common pool. Add $20 LP at Clipper Coves. Follow 2 Twitter pages and join Discord.
Difficulty: ★★★★☆
Time: 10 days
Comments: This task is actually not as difficult as imagined, but the process is more lengthy. First, click on "Liquidity" at the top and select "Pools". Deposit 21 USDC, the funds will be locked for 10 days and can be withdrawn after 10 days.
Click "Convert" to exchange for $21 worth of OP Tokens.
Click on "Liquidity" again, this time selecting "Coves". Click "Add Deposit" and select sUSD, click OP as the core asset. Funds can be withdrawn immediately upon completion. The remaining tokens are still converted through Uniswap.
Note: You need to wait a full 10 days to claim this NFT. Remember to label the "Mining Pool" page, and the funds will be unlocked after 10 days.
The above are the 11 NFTs that the author has collected so far, one of which (Kwenta) is still waiting. As for whether the remaining 6 NFTs should be collected, it is up to everyone to judge for themselves. The following is my personal opinion:
1. Quix
Task: Buy an NFT worth at least 0.0099 ETH.
Difficulty: ☆☆☆☆
Time: 2 to 3 hours reflected on Galxe
Comments: You need to spend at least 0.0099 ETH on NFT. The author's method is: use the backup wallet to sell the existing NFT, buy it back with the main wallet, and then transfer the 0.0099 ETH back to the main wallet. If you don’t have any NFTs in your backup wallet, you can choose to buy the cheapest NFT on Quix and list it for 0.01 ETH. Then use the main wallet to buy it back to complete the task.
Conclusion: Go for it!
2. Hop Protocol
Task: Provide OP liquidity for the Hop protocol. Fund lock-up periods vary by fund size. More details are on the Galxe page.
Difficulty: ☆☆☆☆
Time: 9 days to 3 months, depending on the size of the fund
Comments: The task is simple, but the funds will be locked for a period of time. It is recommended to use the $500 level instead of $200, as funds will only be locked for one month.
Conclusion: ok...
3. Beethoven
Task: invest at least 0.05 ETH or rETH in the Rocket Fuel pool, and pledge BPT for at least 24 hours.
Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆
Duration: 1 day
Comments: The author believes that you have completed more than ten pre-tasks, this task should be relatively easy, right? It should be noted that all BPT will be pledged after the deposit is made.
Conclusion: very simple, just do it.
4. QiDao/Mai Finance
Task: Open a position and deposit WETH or OP. Borrow at least 100 MAI and keep the "health ratio" within a certain range.
Difficulty: ★★★☆☆
Time: 1 week
Comments: In order to keep the healthy ratio within a certain range, deposit as much WETH or OP as possible, it is recommended to be around $300. After opening the position, borrow 100.1 MAI and hold it for 1 week. Remember to repay the loan after successfully claiming the NFT.
Conclusion: can be done or not.
Not recommended
5. Synthetix
Task: Stake 100 SNX and get at least two weekly rewards.
Difficulty: ☆☆☆☆
Time: 2 weeks
Comments: As of writing this guide, 100 SNX cost approximately $230. In order to complete this task, you need to stake SNX tokens on the Synthetix platform and claim two weekly rewards, which means that funds will be locked for 2 weeks. Locking funds is not a big problem, what needs to be paid attention to is actually the currency price.
Conclusion: The currency price can go up or down in two weeks, if you don't mind the risk of loss, you can do it.
6. Lyra
Task: Trade $100 options and follow the Twitter page.
Difficulty: ☆☆☆☆
Time: Immediately
Comments: You can sell one of the options immediately after purchasing, completing the task in an instant. Since the platform charges a 5 percent fee on each transaction, it would cost around $10 to complete the task.
Verdict: Doable if you don't mind paying $10.
epilogue
In general, the author thinks the experience and operation of the whole process is very interesting, and some of the DeFi projects are also somewhat different from traditional DeFi, which shows that the project founders are trying to make a difference. As Galxe mentioned on his blog, it was indeed an interesting learning journey. In fact, we don't need to complete all the tasks, we only need to complete 10 of them to get the third level NFT issued next. After completing more than a dozen tasks, I believe that the highlight of the Optimism network is its cost and speed. The OP gas fee is really ridiculously low, a total of 120 transactions only cost about $4, and the average transaction fee is $0.0333. It's even cheaper than Arbitrum, which also uses Optimism rollup. In addition to the cost, compared with Arbitrum, the OP network is also faster, especially when cross-chain, the difference can be felt. Although everyone commented that Arbitrum runs faster than OP in wind reviews, the author thinks that OP is better in actual experience, and the basic principle behind it is unknown. As a competent Web3 user, I think we need to experience it ourselves in order to get the most authentic feedback and give more objective comments.
