Yuga Labs' BAYC, OtherSide Discord Hacked, Over 145 ETH Stolen

Yuga Labs, the creator of two of the most popular ape-themed NFT products — Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and OtherSide — has witnessed another orchestrated phishing attack, with investors losing at the time of writing Over 145 Ethereum (ETH), nearly $260,000.

OKHotshot, a blockchain detective and member of the Crypto Twitter community, alerted crypto investors to two official Discord groups related to BAYC and the OtherSide NFT.

According to OKHotshot's investigation, the attack was carried out by hacking into the Discord account of Boris Vagner, Yuga Labs' community and social manager.

After gaining unrestricted access to the employee's account, the scammers shared various phishing links from Vagner's Discord account to official BAYC, Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) and Otherside groups.

Unwary by the ongoing scam, many users in the Discord group have been duped by phishing messages promising a limited number of giveaways for existing NFT users — as evidenced by the screenshot above.

Following the investigation, OKHotshot disclosed wallets holding and transferring recently compromised NFTs, making BAYC the second victim of an attack in two weeks.

Yuga Labs has not yet responded to Cointelegraph's request for comment.

On May 25, a member of the Proof Collective lost 29 high-value Ethereum-based Moonbirds NFTs worth $1.5 million in an ongoing scam.

While the total damage surrounding this hack remains unclear, the recent crypto scam is a wake-up call for NFT owners to exercise caution when dealing with third-party platforms and to double-check anything shared by others, even if they Looks trustworthy.
