FX168 Financial News Agency (Asia Pacific) reported that former US President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said that if he wins the US presidential election in November, he will appoint billionaire Musk as the chairman of the US government efficiency commission. Musk responded on Twitter on Saturday (September 7) with a half-length photo of D.O.G.E., stimulating a surge in Dogecoin.
Musk wrote on Twitter over the weekend: "US Government Efficiency Commission."
The post attracted nearly 80 million traffic, and the picture showed Musk sitting at the desk of D.O.G.E., the full name of the English abbreviation is Department of Government Efficiency, which is the US government efficiency commission.
Bitcoin.com reported that Musk's creation of D.O.G.E. has aroused enthusiastic responses from Dogecoin (DOGE) supporters. Musk is often called the "Father of Dogecoin" and has been a major advocate of this cryptocurrency.
As of Monday's Asian session, Dogecoin ended its decline and rebounded to $0.09711.

In another post, Musk wrote: "If anyone has a strong opinion about keeping a certain branch of government, they can express their opinion. He expressed strong concerns about the government's financial situation, saying: At the current rate of government spending, the United States is rapidly heading towards bankruptcy, and excessive US government spending is the cause of inflation. "
According to Fox Business, he supports Musk's plan to set up a US government efficiency committee. Trump first publicly expressed support for the idea in a speech to the Economic Club of New York last Thursday, and said Musk had agreed to serve as the chairman of the committee.

According to Trump's advisers, the main goal of the U.S. Government Efficiency Commission is to analyze government functions and seek ways to save taxpayers money. The establishment of the commission is part of Trump's broader economic strategy, which includes tax cuts, tariff increases, and plans to repeal the Inflation Reduction Act.

Trump also emphasized that the first task of the commission is to eliminate fraud and improper payments within six months.
Trump said in his speech: "I will set up a U.S. Government Efficiency Commission to conduct a comprehensive financial and performance audit of the entire federal government."
US media pointed out that as the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and the boss of Twitter (now renamed X), Musk acknowledged and agreed to serve on the Government Efficiency Commission and wrote on Twitter: "If there is an opportunity, I look forward to serving the United States. No salary, no title, no recognition."
Musk turned to support Trump in July after Trump's assassination attempt, and in a conversation with Trump on Twitter Spaces in August, he suggested the establishment of a government efficiency commission. He expressed interest in contributing to its efforts and said: "I would be happy to help such a committee."
Trump was later asked whether he would hire Musk to serve his government, and he said he "definitely would." Musk responded to the news with a post on Twitter that showed an AI-generated image depicting him leading a fictional U.S. government efficiency department and wrote, "I'd love to serve."
But about a week later, Trump said Musk was too busy for a White House cabinet position because he was focused on "running a big business," although he left open the possibility of Musk serving as an adviser to the Trump administration.
"As people often say, he can advise the country and give you some very good ideas," Trump said, suggesting Musk could assist the U.S. government on AI and other matters.
But Trump's proposal drew criticism from Everett Kelley, president of the American Federation of Government Employees, which represents 750,000 federal workers. Kelly accused Trump and Musk of wanting to cut the federal government's nonpartisan civil service system and replace fired employees with their allies.
"That's not efficient," Kelly told Reuters.
