The update primarily includes a clearer explanation of which specific elements in the privacy statement are related to MetaMask and what each element means for MetaMask users. This includes increased transparency on how IP addresses are handled when using MetaMask.
The update also includes other background information related to Consensys' entire personal information processing activities. The scope of products and services within the privacy statement has been clarified, with Codefi and Quorum being removed and MetaMask Institutional, MetaMask Developer, Linea, Teku, Besu, and Phosphor being added.
For MetaMask users, Consensys will not collect private keys or sell personal information. Unless necessary for providing services and a good user experience, personal information will not be collected or retained. Financial payment or banking information will not be collected. However, when users use the deposit and withdrawal function, these services may require submitting this information to third-party providers.
