Injective has successfully implemented its Volan Upgrade on its Testnet, calling the eventual implementation "the largest Injective mainnet upgrade in history".
Volan is anticipated to introduce significant enhancements to Injective.
Injective, Upgraded
Injective is set to achieve nearly instant finality with sub-second block times.
This advancement aims to facilitate rapid and seamless transactions, reducing the risk of front-running and MEV attacks commonly observed on other blockchains.
Volan will also enable full interoperability with the Cosmos ecosystem and other IBC-enabled chains.
Users will be empowered to transfer assets and data across diverse networks, fostering cross-chain composability, innovation, and access to a broader pool of liquidity and users.
Next, Volan will see Injective support CosmWasm, a smart contract framework for the Cosmos ecosystem.
This framework allows developers to write smart contracts in various programming languages that compile to WebAssembly, expanding the possibilities for creating diverse and intricate applications on Injective.
These include decentralised exchanges, lending protocols, prediction markets, and NFT platforms.
The platform will maintain compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), enabling developers to deploy existing Ethereum smart contracts on Injective with minimal modifications.
This approach aims to lower entry barriers for developers migrating applications from Ethereum and attract those familiar with Solidity and other Ethereum tools.
A new governance module will be introduced, enabling INJ token holders to actively participate in the network's decision-making process. INJ holders can propose and vote on various network parameters, ensuring that Injective remains a decentralised and community-driven protocol that adapts to user preferences.
Promising Growth
Despitegaining over 200,000 users in the past 12 months, Injective's block speed has experienced an increase to 0.8 seconds even before the implementation of the Volan upgrade.
There have been no airdrops scheduled for Injective users, however, though that has not stopped scammers from trying their luck on Injective's socials.
