Vitalik Buterin Explores AI and Crypto Intersection in Blog Post

According to Decrypt, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin published a blog post discussing the potential intersection between artificial intelligence (AI) and the crypto industry. He compared the role of AI within crypto to components of a video game, suggesting that AI could act as a player in a game. Trading bots earning money through arbitrage using blockchain-based decentralized exchanges (DEXs) are an example of this concept. Buterin also mentioned that prediction markets, such as AIOmen, could emerge and use AI as their players, potentially increasing liquidity in these markets. Furthermore, Buterin claimed that AI can act as an interface to the game, helping crypto users understand the world around them. For instance, the popular crypto wallet MetaMask uses software that warns users when they are about to interact with a malicious website or dapp. However, there are risks to this approach, as open-source wallets with AI could be exploited by malicious actors who review the code to launch hacks and scams. Buterin also discussed the challenges of using AI as rules of a game, such as AI judges or assisting smart contracts and DAOs in making subjective decisions. Despite these challenges, Buterin expressed interest in seeing more attempts at constructive use cases of AI in various areas to determine their viability at scale.
