Several crypto industry leaders have requested a meeting with the campaign policy team of U.S. Vice President Harris and running mate Tim Walz this month to discuss policy proposals to promote innovation and inclusion.
In a letter sent to the campaign policy team on Tuesday, Nat'l Policy Network WOC Blockchain founder Cleve Mesidor, Black Women Blockchain Committee founder Olayinka Odeniran, and Pennsylvania State University Dickinson Law School professor Tonya Evans, among others, called for a regulatory framework for Web3 and DeFi to encourage innovation in the United States. More than 20 people signed the letter.
They wrote: "Our diverse group of Web3 and DeFi industry leaders wrote to request a meeting with the HarrisWalz campaign policy team in October 2024 to discuss the importance of Web3 and DeFi policies and regulatory frameworks that promote innovation in the United States."
It pointed out that "... to ensure an opportunity economy on a level playing field, the government must balance consumer protection measures with policies that promote financial inclusion and capital formation." (The Block)
