On July 13, The Walt Disney Company announced that six companies will join the 2022 Disney Accelerator. The Disney Accelerator is a business development program designed to accelerate the growth of innovative companies around the world. This year’s Disney Accelerator class focuses on building the future of immersive experiences, focusing on technologies such as augmented reality (AR), non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and artificial intelligence (AI) characters.
Launching this week, the Disney Accelerator will connect Disney's creativity, imagination and expertise across this year's curriculum. Over the course of the program, each participating company will receive mentorship from Disney's senior leadership team, as well as a dedicated executive mentor. The Disney Accelerator program will hold Demo Days this fall at Disney Studios in Burbank, California.
“For nearly a century, Disney has been at the forefront of leveraging technology to create the entertainment experiences of the future,” said Bonnie Rosen, general manager of the Disney Accelerator program. Together, we look forward to further innovations that will continue to deliver magical experiences to Disney audiences and guests for the next 100 years."
The companies selected for the 2022 Disney Accelerator Program are:
Flickplay: Flickplay is a Web3 social application that allows users to experience and share NFTs tied to real-world locations through AR.
Inworld: Inworld allows users to create interactive, AI-driven characters and enjoy an immersive experience.
Lockerverse: The Lockerverse is a Web3 platform that empowers creators and brands to tell culture-defining stories and deliver unique access and experiences.

According to the Disney Accelerator Network, the program is open to venture-backed, growth-stage startups that will have an impact on the future of technology and entertainment. The companies participating in the Disney accelerator project are all related to the Web3 field, which shows that Disney is preparing to embrace and deploy the Web3 field.
