FIFA, the international governing body of soccer, has expanded into Web3 gaming by releasing four NFT games ahead of World Cup 2022.

Per the official statement, the exciting initiative is part of its efforts to engage with a broader group of fans before the biggest football event in Qatar. Notably, the renowned sports association has partnered with multiple GameFi projects, including Uplandme, Matchday, Phygtl, and Altered State Machine, to unveil a range of World Cup blockchain games. 

All integrations are playable around the upcoming tournament, each with its unique twist of FIFA World Cup 2022. Here's a list of them:  

1. Altered State Machine - AI League: FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Edition

As a 4-on-4 casual football game, AI League is played between AI-controlled characters, where player inputs are required at tactical moments. You'll be the coach and owner of your AI teams and help them improve their abilities through power-ups and training sessions. All playing fields are set in stylized streetball locations worldwide, from Paris to Rio and Yaoundé to Seoul.

2. Uplandme - FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in the Upland Metaverse

Upland is the largest blockchain-based metaverse mapped to the real world, allowing players to buy and sell virtual properties. From now on, users can collect official FIFA World Cup digital collectibles, including legendary video highlights of the tournament. 

They can also travel to the replica FIFA World Cup Lusail Stadium and Village, shop for items to customize their home in Upland, trade their assets with friends, and win one of many prizes. 

3. Matchday - Matchday Challenge: FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Edition

Matchday is a social prediction game based on football cards, where the gist of the fun is derived not just from "getting it right" but also from being the best among your friends.

4. Phygtl - FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 on Phygtl

Phygtl, on the other hand, is a fan engagement mobile app that takes fandom into a whole new dimension. Users can take on missions to co-create their first fan-generated digital rewards and eternalize their handpicked World Cup moments using the app.
