Shortly after launching her own non-fungible token (NFT) project last month, former U.S. First Lady Melania Trump applauded Bitcoin (BTC) on Twitter.
On Monday, Mrs. Trump wished Bitcoin a happy birthday. Bitcoin, the world's largest cryptocurrency, celebrated its 13th anniversary on Jan. 3.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin has a market capitalization of just over $880 billion, according to data from CoinGecko. Its market capitalization last surpassed $1 trillion in early December.
As of this writing, the tweet has garnered over 30,000 likes and over 8,000 retweets.
Many in the cryptocurrency community, including Morgan Creek Digital co-founder Anthony Pompliano, then suggested that Mrs. Trump may be a "bitcoin enthusiast" or involved in the bitcoin industry.
It was also noted that Mrs. Trump’s husband, former U.S. President Donald Trump, has made major anti-Bitcoin remarks. Trump has repeatedly slammed bitcoin in recent years, calling it a scam and arguing it was "made up out of thin air."
The former first lady officially announced her NFT platform in mid-December 2021, launching her first digital collectible, "Melania's Vision." According to Melania Trump’s official website, the NFT sale was conducted on the Solana blockchain and the auction ended on December 31.
