Prices across the non-fungible token (NFT) market have been affected as the market has generally declined, with the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) range down more than 50% since the start of the month.
The floor price of BAYC fell to US$198,000 on Wednesday, and the valuation in US dollars fell 52% from May 1, when the cheapest Bored Ape was priced at US$420,000. The sluggish market environment also had an impact on BAYC's total sales volume, which fell by 117% month-on-month.
If the floor price of BAYC is measured by Ethereum (ETH), the NFT series has only fallen by more than 30%, and the current floor price is at 97.39 ETH.
BAYC’s partnered cryptocurrency, ApeCoin (APE), has also seen a sharp drop in price, with the token down around 70% since the launch of Yuga Lab’s metaverse project Otherside.

Autograph, the Web3 company co-founded by Tom Brady, has partnered with IndyCar, Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Team Penske to launch an Indy 500-themed NFT series.
The NFT race announced today is designed to commemorate the 106th edition of the Indianapolis 500 — one of the largest auto races in the United States — and will take place on Sunday, May 29.
The NFT collection consists of three main parts, offering users redeemable Indianapolis 500 commemorative race-day coupons, 33 more exclusive "Mystery Driver" cards, and a one-of-a-kind commemorative rendition of the winning 1972 Indy 500 race car.
All those who purchased a seat for the event will get free NFT tickets on the day of the game, and the NFT will also provide users with exclusive content throughout the weekend of the game.
'V1' CryptoPunks Get Green Light
A previously discarded CryptoPunks series, the "V1" series, has returned to OpenSea following the recent purchase of the CryptoPunks series IP from Larva Labs by Yuga Labs.
The first Cryptopunks produced by Larva Labs in 2017 were accidentally built on the wrong code, so they were quickly discarded, replaced by the now iconic "V2" version.
Late last year, though, the CryptoPunks community created a "wrapper" program that recycles obsolete V1 versions and turns them into new NFTs, which sparked some major resistance.
The official CryptoPunk team wasn't happy with the idea of a "wrapped" V1 series, telling their 224,000 followers that "they're not official CryptoPunk".
Larva Labs then issued a DMCA takedown notice to OpenSea and removed the NFTs. However, the acquisition of Yuga Labs meant that Larva Labs could no longer sustain their controversy and V1 Punks returned to OpenSea.
Gender ratio of Loney Ape users 'extremely uneven'
Lonely Ape Yacht Club, an app that allows users to connect their crypto wallets and filter potential matches based on the net worth of NFTs, failed to launch due to a wildly unbalanced male-female shortlist for registration.
According to the Lonely Ape Yacht Club website, the app was designed to be the first NFT-focused dating app, starting with the BAYC NFT to test the waters.
The site adds that the app will allow Lonely Ape members to "get the attention of potential matches by sending them encrypted messages" and display things like "how long your diamond has been delivered to your NFT, personal net worth and their The value of the overall NFT portfolio" and other indicators.
The app will also include a feature called Coin Digger, which will allow non-BAYC users to "connect with higher net worth individuals for mutual benefit."
