The new year has brought thrilling news for Squid Game fans as Netflix Korea “accidentally” revealed the highly anticipated release date for Season 3 and some exciting details.
The Korean drama Squid Game has become a worldwide sensation, breaking records and capturing audiences across the globe. The second season made history by debuting with 68 million views, securing its place as the most-watched series on Netflix’s Non-English TV list.
Teaser Sparks Excitement
Netflix Korea shared a teaser video on its official YouTube channel, unveiling the release date for Season 3. The teaser features the iconic robotic doll, Young-hee, transported to a mysterious new location where she encounters a new character—a boy robot named Chul-soo.
The introduction of Chul-soo has sparked curiosity about his role in the series’ deadly narrative. Fans are eager to see how this new character will fit into the gripping storyline.
According to reports, Squid Game Season 3 is slated for release on June 27. However, after the teaser video quickly went viral, it was swiftly removed. This made many assume that the producers behind the show or the Netflix might have accidentally leaked the trailer of the third season prematurely.
But fans were quick to capture the screenshots and clips from the youtube video and circulate it to other social media platforms like Reddit, fueling fan excitement.
Netflix has yet to confirm or deny the teaser’s accidental reveal, leaving fans speculating and eagerly counting down to June 27.
In a recent interview with Variety, creator Hwang Dong-hyuk shared an update about the show’s progress. “We’ll likely announce the launch date for Season 3 soon,” he said, hinting at a summer or fall release.
Leonardo DiCaprio cameo in Season 3
The cherry on top of the cake is the rumours that the producers of Squid Games would be roping in global superstar, Leonardo Dicaprio to make a cameo appearance in Season 3.
Following these rumours, a photo of Dicaprio and the director of the show Hwang Dong-Hyuk was also posted online. In a separate interview, Director Hwang also revealed that Dicario is also a big fan of the series and has expressed interest in being part of it.
But he has neither confirmed nor denied the rumours that Decaprio would be featured in the third season of the TV series.
